Tomorrow (Sunday, August 27th) CartoTalk will undergo an upgrade. I am installing version 2.0.4 of the Invision Power Board software, and we now own a perpetual license (version 1.3 was free).
I have installed it in a test environment so the downtime should be minimal, but the board will be offline for a few hours tonight and tomorrow night.
What will be in the upgrade you ask?
- More security
- Better performance
- Extra features
- A new look!
So prepare yourself for.... (drum roll)... CartoTalk 2.0

Woo-Hoo!
Faster, meaner, colorful, no hackers?
Looking forward to it.
And by the way Nick, thanks for all you do to keep this community a lively functioning one.

He he
It's my 3rd job, after my day job and freelance cartography. I enjoy it immensly though. Gives me a reason to tinker with PHP (and it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling).

Nice new look and the really noticeable thing is the speed. The board was always slow to respond, but now...wow.
Thanks Again!

Great!
Nice and clean, I like the new colors better! And the new logo is really good (I am fan of Goode's interrupted homolosine myself).

Looking good. I'm glad the upgrade went so smoothly.
Can you perhaps create a bit more difference between the icon for a forum with new messages and the one for a forum without new messages? It's a bit hard to tell with the new colors.

I wondered about that myself... fixed.

Nick,
I can't believe how much faster the site loads. I love it! The header graphic is impressive as well. Nice work as always:) Erin

Fantabulous! My only quibble (and I really mean "quibble") would be that the header graphic is a tad wide. I've got my browser set to 800 px wide, but the page margin on the left forces the header image off a bit on the right. On my office monitor that is no big deal, but my home machine is a bit smaller and clunkier. Sigh...
