I need to find the source and metadata for the following data: SOILS, CLIMATE (longterm rainfall, or rainfall zones), CROPS
in Czech R. and Hungary.

Any good leads? I realize the language barrier might be a problem so if anyone from these countries can supplement that would be RAD. :P

Thanks, Chris

Would global data do?

Well, it should be survey level data, but at this point I am taking the kitchen sink approach. What do you suggest?

Soils: FAO soil map of the world
Precipitation: from CRU
Agriculture: SAGE major agricultural system (there is a 2000 version coming out soon, you might be able to acquire it if you contact the PI)

For Hungary the official GIS source is the Fomi http://www.fomi.hu/ (in English: http://www.fomi.hu/honlap/angol/ )
I think they have data on that, but surely not free, so write them.

bye
Laszlo
