Some of you may be wondering, ”why so many languages for the Stavanger city map?”

Just to clear up any misconceptions or doubts about this project, Stavanger is part of the ICORN project: http://www.icorn.org/

I’m sure that most of you will agree with me that even a simple map in the native tongue of a person who has been persecuted and are on their way to freedom in Stavanger would appreciate the welcoming gesture.

I know it’s not much, but there we are, that’s my meagre contribution.

Hope the weekend has kicked in for most of you, mine’s a working one.

Jan Mulder a Radio DJ friend of mine in Den Helder told me that he was accosted last Friday night for playing ABBA on his midnight stint at the Radio Station. It reminded me a little of Clint Eastwood’s first film as director ”Play Misty for me” any of you remember?
Jan was certainly not expecting the GBH he was subjected to when leaving the station at 03:00 in the morning.

I’d call that persecution, wouldn’t you?

Anyway I heard from him this evening and he owned up to the fact that it was all a publicity stunt. Understandable as he’s a little short on women at present. Hence his George Costanza (Seinfeld) stunt on someone feeling sorry for him in the early hours of the morning in some Den Helder dive.

Btw I did initially ask him to do the Dutch translation for me. After reading his translation a few times I began to suspect that he added a few words that had nothing to do with “Click” or “Maps”.

He’s promised to keep in touch, but I gave him the old “I’ll call you” routine.

Back to the grindstone.

You have a taker on the Albanian. I must preface, however, that my Albanian is not authoritative. I have been living here for about a year now, and am conversational. I would look for an Albanian to proof this. Having said this, something is better than nothing.
