Dear CartoTalkers,

Here is another example of the stuff I am currently involved in. Basically, GTPE is a very thorough encyclopaedia / directory about commercial ports worldwide. It currently comprises of four books, two with text and two with plans, and is growing constantly. A never-ending story…
Anyway, lets get to the point. Below I attach three examples of port plans that are published in GTPE.
Their accuracy and level of complexity vary (from general port locations and approaches to berth equipment) as we depend mainly on data supplied by port authorities, shipmasters, etc. Then we try to extract all the information that might be substantial for a ship crew arriving at a port.
Plans are printed in B&W so the graphical means of expression are limited to using one or two grey tints and different line thicknesses and styles.
And here is the question: what do you think about the plan examples and would you improve it?

Cheers
Dom
