I found this site when browsing for information relating to using software for mapmaking creation. I am part of the Cartographers' Guild, we have a lot in common with you, in that we use (mainly) software to produce maps, but are different in that most ofthe maps we make tend to be of fantasy places - usually to accompany role-playing games. This means that the emphasis is on the map design and artistic merit rather than accuracy (which is obviousl non -existant as the locations are all made up!).
I have posted up some of my efforts in the Gallery, and am looking forward to participating here. The software I generally use to create maps is: Serif Drawplus, Paintshop Pro and occasionally Bryce if I want 3d effects.
