I came up with this little widget to let people create their own links into my site.

You can see examples in the left margin on that page.

Basically it passes the point name, latitude, and longitude encoded in URL, and the map renders the person's information, then performs a bunch of "find the nearest" calculations to flesh out the rest of the page content.

It will be interesting to see what purposes people come up with for it...
