Hi! I'm the webmaster/administrator of the cartographers guild website. (http://www.cartographersguild.com)...I stumbled upon this site from a tutorial link that was posted on my website and thought I'd register here and lurk a while and eventually get a bit more involved in REAL Cartography.

I've always been focused on cartography as an art form and my site focuses on cartography for fantasy and sci-fi gaming, even though the techniques are similar, the tools are of course different and more geared towards gaming. (unless you use a regular graphics program)

I assure you I'm not here to spam my site or anything, I just wanted to mention my relationship and interest to the cartography world. Of course feel free to drop by if you wish though.

Welcome! There have been a few threads about fantasy/rpg maps here before, which you will find in the archive, as well as techniques on how to prepare "old-looking" maps.

I've been lurking on your site as well (but I don't get over there often enough). Glad to have you here. You have a love of cartography and maps, and that's the best place to start. There's certainly room here for you. Just because you dabble in the imagination, doesn't take away from the need to have good, cartographically sound maps.

I hope you'll share some of your work with us here.

I am a fan of fantasy maps myself, as well as antique maps and artistic and handmade maps.
