Hi,

I don't have an immediate need (I actually did yesterday, but it worked out with excel) but just to get an idea -- what is currently the best option for 2-d scientific/quantitative graphs? My dad (pharmacology professor) used to use SigmaPlot (and I played with it a bit in the DOS days) but that was ages ago, and I remember using some Mac software that started with C[something]Chart at university...

My requirements would be:
* Easy export to illustrator (copy and paste would be great)
* Easy access standard data sources (excel, access, odbc)
* Windows

Golden Software distributes Grapher http://www.goldensof...r/grapher.shtml

It is fairly profficient for the everyday task and you have all the control needed for a complete satisfaction with the final product. It even exports shape files!
You should give it a try, there is demo file available.

Thanks, sounds interesting. Too bad they don't offer a full featured trial/demo -- the one they offer has export disabled for instance (an important factor for me is export to illustrator!).

Now I am there again, and this time I am going to buy something, for some "bubble" charts (scatter plot with sized points and labels). Tried Kaleidagraph first (cheapest) but that wasn't good enough.

But Grapher seemed really good, but I am not going to buy it unless I can evaluate the export (copy/paste + export) functionality to Illustrator... I emailed their support, but they don't have a solution, I am looking into a workaround...

I was really impressed with how quickly I got things set up in and working in Grapher.

OK, I managed to find a way to evaluate Grapher, and the export to illustrator through emf files, and copy/paste seems to work really good, so perhaps I should buy this!

Odd that the eps/pdf export functionality exports a rasterized version of the plot, but it doesn't matter so much.

Hello Frax!

I looked at your website and found a chart "Carbon dioxide and temperature - historic trends on climate change", where you used goldensoftwares grapher software. My question: Does it run under a 64-bit windows environment, especially under windows7 64bit??
