Happy days ahead, since I have managed to solve a long-term annoyance with Illy CS2! Sorry for cross-posting, but since I wouldn't be suprised if anyone else here has had the same problems, here is the solution I found:

My coworker ran into this problem and we couldn't figure out. We just ended up reinstalling a fresh copy of AI CS2.

I think I spoke to early, since the problems are re-popping up...

Now I have Adobe support on the case, but they are not getting back to me...
