Hi, I created a little google maps game. It is called placespotting and it is about finding places on earth... You get a satellite image and some tips and have to find the place on a google map. You can also create your own riddles and send them to your friends. Of course it's free and you need no registration.

A couple:
- sort/limit by languages used
- add a mark as "international", "local" or "personal." Many of the clues are clearly in-jokes for locals and I don't even have a clue which country the red-tile roofs are in... But enough of them are of landmarks and googlemap oddities that it clearly is of interest to folks from away. It would just be nice to weed out the "I was here listening to music last week" ones...

Thanks for these suggestions
- different languages are definitely a problem, I think I will add a dropdown to set the hints language (included in filter & sort)
- to separate local from international riddles a check box could be useful (In fact I expected people to mark a riddle as private if it contains insider hints, but almost nobody uses this feature) :-(
- maybe a kind of a rating system could be introduced. What do you think?

If you prefer international riddles only, start a blog where you post links to international riddles. Have a look at my facebook group. I try to do exactly this.

Some additional features...
- language selection box in the "create" tab
- difficulty selection box in the "create" tab
- sort and filter by language
- sort and filter by difficulty
- Send mail from your own email program (less mails are trapped in spam filters)
- Image-links to riddles (the html code is automatically created when the riddle is stored)

Hi,

I just uploaded a new version of placespotting.com. New features include „riddle-rating“, a new blog, statistics, improved email functions and a brand new design. At the moment more than 3000 riddles can be solved and more than 300’000 tried to solve one.
