Related to my request yesterday for help converting a DEM to a slope grid: I have a polygon layer that I need to subtract part of the raster from. I want to remove those areas that have a slope greater than 20% from the polygon layer. For the life of me I can't figure out how to do this (again I don't have 3D analyst or Spatial Analyst). Can anyone help me in figuring out how to subtract portions of the raster from the polygon layer? Thanks in advance.

I would create a binary/reclass raster out of the slope grid: greater/lower than 20% - then convert that to polygons. After that you can use ordinary overlay operations, such as clip and/or union etc
