I've noticed that every now and then when I open an existing CS3 document that contains a linked PSD, Illustrator won’t find or recognize the file. At that point I'm prompted with a dialogue asking me to repair, replace, or ignore the PSD. The weird part is I can navigate to the missing file and select it (so it's not really missing), but the dialogue keeps bothering me for the same file when I hit OK. It’s annoying. My fix has been to make a copy of the PSD and replace the link....or restart my machine which fixes the problem, sometimes. I know I could try other image types but I prefer to place PSDs because they are so easy to update and seem to be more stable than PNGs when transparency is needed. Has anyone else seen this? I just downloaded the latest update. Keeping my fingers crossed that it’s an annoyance of the past.
