I came across this really interesting morph showing the difference between true geography in the London underground map and the design of system map itself. Interesting to think about the trade-offs.

I'd like to make one of these for the DC metro...
Also, I saw a post on Cartotalk awhile ago about a menu that has made to match the DC metro map. I have obtained a copy of this now, I can take a picture if anyone is still interested. It is cute. (I think if you could capture the travel time between stations, it would a great drinking game. With each station as a different drink, the goal would be to keep your train on time!)

Would love to see a picture of the menu. In fact, I think it'd be a nice thing to have a gallery of "cute ways to use maps".
As for the London Underground map, I think it's a monument of design. I love it.

It seems Beck's original was slightly closer to true geography than the 2004 version.
