I need to display a lot of airline routes on a globe. I know the start- and end-points of every route, so I can easily generate orthodromes (aka great cirles). This is not acceptable though, as they will appear as straight lines on the globes and the client really likes the curvy appearance those same routes have on a 2D map.
Is there any way to generate this more or less automatically, i.e. without me having to manually set bezier curves in Illy from Amsterdam to New York, and from Amsterdam to Boston, and from Amsterdam to Detroit, and from Amsterdam to Washington (by which time I'll be going raving mad...)
Great circles, but not quite

Have you played with Effect>Warp>Arc in Illustartor?
That works quite well - instant bezier, then simply manually adjust where necessary.

That looks like it may just work. It would probabely need quite a bit of manual adjustment, but every little bit helps. Thanks!

Xtreme Path Tools, an extra plugin, has some nice features that can help you with arc paths
