Map Technician and Sr. Map Technician

General summary
Support map production and data processing utilizing a variety of software, in-house GIS technologies and database tools to work with raster, vector, analog and gridded data. Assignments will vary to include map and data production projects and will require that you participate in creating procedures and solving problems. Work will include multiple projects and interacting with other groups within the company. .

Sr. Map Technician will serve as a hands-on group supervisor: oversee one or more teams of Map Technicians: coordinate work flow; train new temporary or full-time hires; monitor quantity and quality of work; delegate tasks to appropriate people; provide feedback; respond to performance and other employment issues.


Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in geography, GIS or related field and 1 to 3 years experience using mapping and GIS tools or an equivalent combination of education/experience; and 1 to 3 years experience in a supervisory position. Experience using databases such as MS Access and/or SQL is a plus. Must have strong spatial skills and a solid understanding of scale. A background in geography, raster processing, photogrammetry, cartography, graphic arts, research or computer-related courses is a plus. Ability to lead and motivate a group, write status reports, monitor schedules and budgets, and present proposals to management team is essential.
