I'm considering organizing a hands on multi-day cartography workshop somewhere nice in the spring or early summer of 2008 and would like to gauge the interest of Cartotalk readers in attending such an event. It would likely take place over 4 days with a guest lecturer holding forth everyday with a heavy component of project based, hands-on experimentation, critiques, knowledge sharing. It would probably not be software specific but focused more on process and techniques.

Potential topics:

Typography
Remote Sensing/Land Cover Mapping/Satellite imagery integration
Shaded relief
Cartographic Workflow
Advanced thematic map design
3-d/perspective map design

This would be a North American thing, I assume?

I´d be pretty interested, but I fear 2008 would be a hard year for me to make it. I hope this goes well, and that there´ll be a 2009 workshop that I am able to attend!
