"hey man, i made that map!"
surprise of all surprises, a company dumps a project on someone whose job description has nothing to do with mapping. i can see the conversation now:
[it's friday, 3pm, in cubicle land]
boss: "yeeea kim, i'm going to need that map up on the site by monday."
kim: "uh, what map? what are you talking about?"
boss: "the map of guam international airport. it's really important, bill (the vp) will flip if it's not done by then."
kim: " but... i'm just the secretary".
boss: "yeeea but you made those powerpoints presentations last time, didn't you?"
kim: "yes but i dont' see..."
boss: walking away "alright, thanks alot kim"
kim: "but it's 3pm on friday, how can i possibly..."
boss: "ohhh, right, i'm uhh... gonna have to ask you to come in on the weekend ok? great, see ya"

They should have just drawn a quick map with a pencil and paper. Instead they felt like it was necessary to destroy this helpless map It makes me wonder why they didn't use the original? Maybe it was a case of co-worker revenge or something?

Hey, that's pretty cool. I like the little "Soviet Russia" dangling underneath /.

Hmmm, I wonder what little tiny island CartoTalk inhabits? Shouldn't we lay claim to the Compass Rose Shaped Island?

you both got it wrong
We are above such mortal considerations
Our destiny is to chat eternally about world affairs with the omniscience and supernatural indifference that our lofty position affords us....
Ok... maybe occasionally, we get to hurl a thunderbolt or two upon the crawling little minons that inhabit our maps!

"we get to hurl a thunderbolt or two upon the crawling little minons that inhabit our maps!"
I always wondering if people inhabited the maps I make (especially when I am not looking!)
So I totally approve of the Mt. Olympus gated-community and marina proposal, assuming Cartotalk members get condos on the summit.
