The publishers of Times and Collins atlases and maps
A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Cartographic Editor / Editorial
Co-ordinator within Harper Collins' Cartographic Division in
Bishopbriggs, Glasgow.
The main purpose of this role is as follows:
* Responsibility for authoring of content and editorial tasks
relating to map and atlas products and databases, so that our titles
build and lead the market and are delivered profitably.
* Liaison with the Editor-in-Chief in developing and implementing
editorial strategy and policies, to ensure our products become renowned
for accuracy, reliability and relevance.
* Co-ordination of editorial activities throughout the
cartographic division, to further develop and maintain editorial
standards.
To be successful, you must have
* A degree or equivalent in Geography or Cartography/ Geomatics.
* Editorial experience in a commercial publishing environment.
* Knowledge of main graphics/ cartographic software packages
* Experience in writing for publication.
* Good communication and team working skills.
* Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
The following skills/ qualifications would also be desirable
* Management qualification / experience
* Publishing / editorial qualification
* Experience in cartographic production
* Experience in use of software packages including Illustrator,
Quark, Photoshop, Freehand, Map Publisher.
* Management of publishing projects
