Specifically looking for shape files with points not polygons, and Im looking at the moment for Las Vegas points of interest... casinos, hotels, airports, hospitals, etc.
Ive found what there is in the clark county .gov site, but its kind of weak, anyone know of a good resource for this type of data?

Hi,
Welcome to the forum!
Here are few links that might be useful:
1) Virtual Clearinghouse for Nevada Geographic Information: lots of links and contact info on this page...Here's the website
2) City of Las Vegas information technologies: you can request data directly from them. Here's the link
3) Architecture Studies (UNLV Library): look half way down the page and you will see a short list of Map resources. You could digitize the points from these maps or possibly request the data through email: Here's the link
Hope this helps. Erin

You may want to consider purchasing a commerical dataset from Navtec or TeleAtlas. Both will have POIs.
