I have a few Freehand projects looming and wondered what reference/book/guide people prefer for this app?
Freehand tips?

don't have an anwser for that, but on a related note, some of which you might already know, an Adobe beta tester recently told me that CS3 is coming out soon, and freehand is dead. Not surprising... the macromedia web programs will be swapped in, and go live is out as well... or so they say...

I would agree with Rob, best to learn Illustrator, although my heart still lies with FH...
Here are some books and links that I found to be exceptional back in the day and if you are committed to FH you should check out. BTW Olav Kvern is now writing about and I think working on In Design.

Thanks for the links. I use Illy almost exclusively, but on occasion a client requires FH file.

I haven't given up yet. Among other rumors, apparently Adobe has some sort of new "color wheel" logo for its product family. FreeHand is in there with the other family members.
I was also crazy about Real World FreeHand. Ole Kvern and I once went out drinking in Seattle. But the last edition was for FH8.
Feel free to ask your questions here. It would be a pleasure for me to know the answer to something as I watch all these GIS and Illustrator questions go by.
