Hi,
My name is John Watermolen and I am the GIS Specialist for the State of Nevada-Division of Environmental Protection. I have also worked for the USGS as a cartographer. I have been doing this for over 18 years.
I graduted in 1989 with a Degree in Cartography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have always been fascinated with Maps and actually choose this major while looking through the College Catalog. I love map design and map production.
I hope in the future to start my own map production/design company.

Hi John, welcome to the forum.
Hmmm... with a name like that, you must have Dutch ancestors

I have done some family history and my family comes from Belgium. The are considered Flemish which I believe is heavliy influenced by the Dutch. Also there is a watermill and or painting that is somewhat famous called Watermolen (or some variation)

John,
Flemish and Dutch are indeed almost the same language. I think you can even safely say that Flemish is a dialect of Dutch. And the watermill (Watermolen) sounds like something Breughel could have painted. I'm not that much into art

Intersting stuff. The next time I'm in the area, it's going on my "visit" list. I love old water mills as well as Van Gogh paintings.

Doh... goes to show how much I know of art...
It's not too far from where I live actually. About 90 minutes driving I'd estimate.
Van Gogh is a bit of a hero in that area, Nuenen (where he lived for some time) is right to the east of it. Funny enough, he also lived in Zevenbergen for a few months, which is about 4 miles from my town. I found out when I saw a plaque on a building there.
