This can also be done with AutoCAD using the add-on from Autodesk labs, which also allows you to bring in to AutoCAD both the raster image and the 3D mesh - although I belive it's limited to a pretty small area. Maybe worth a look if you're a CAD user.

Well I have not tried but they claim that Elshayal Smart GIS can download Geo-referenced google tiles. Try it and if it is useful please do let us know. You can download the software which is a few MBs only from http://download.cnet...4-10922171.html

although this thread is quite old, if someone is still searching for such a program, what about gmapmaker? it downloads geoferenced tiles (with ozi .map file - you can open it in oziexplorer trial and converting it to tif, or use global mapper to do so) you always have to look for the newest version.

OK, friends, I admit, I come here to push my software to you. But our products [Google Satellite SuperGet] [Google Map SuperGet] [Google Terrain SuperGet] are truly high-efficiency in downloading and mosaicing google images, format as "GeoTIF","Geojpg". They are indeed smart tool which can help you download small tile images with projection information from Google Earth. You can view downloaded maps offline. Moreover you can easily get the longitude and latitude of each exported image. And also we have some other kind of downloaders which can download images from Bing and Yahoo. Visit My Website

Hope it's useful for you.
