Can we get NACIS to file an amicus? Is that a thing we do? This could potentially affect a lot of us. I haven't done any federal contract work. Have anyone else here? I'm curious how much map work is done by contract, and of that how much by cartographers vs. GIS groups.

i'm not sure how they are using the term "mapping". I haven't research this, but one guess is MAPPS has a gripe with non-certified surveyors using GPS to collect data and then display it in a cartographic form. This would under cut the need of surveyors to acturately collect geospatial datasets for the Feds. I'm guessing, and hope, it doesn't pertain to cartographic design type of projects. Although the language used in that article does seem to be extremely broad.
