I don't know if this has been mentioned here, but ESRI Press has Imhof's
Cartographic Relief Presentation in their 2007 book catalog (p. 20,
link below). Amazon (pre-order) is $37.77.

i've got this german version of his physical terrain modeling book and i'd love to have an english version of that too...

Along with Imhof`s book there are some other nice non ESRI books. (for those of us using other GIS system).

It's almost done. It's going to be a faithful representation/translation of the original with some revisions. :)
