I would start with the Italian mapping service, and also try to locate other local companies. A starting point would be to also look at where google buys there aerial imagery (if any) from.
http://www.terraserver.com/ has satellite imagery, for a decent price, which you can also order prints.
Don't think there is one place for aerial imagery, except the big players, for the whole of europe. Maybe in a while it will be easier to locate that, when the INSPIRE (pan-European SDI) materializes more.
