Got this one through slashgeo:

Dynamic map of religious expansion. The accompanying page is in Spanish, but the map itself is in English.

Clearly stating that I understand how generalized something like this has to be, I'll just put it out there that my father is a pastor and was specifically questioning Russia - he thought orthodoxy spread there much earlier.

Hmmm, I'm definately not an expert on the matter, but didn't Islam start with Mohammed's escape from Mecca to Medina? Or is that just "year 0" for them?

Yes that was year 0. and the birth of Jesus is year 0 for Christians. I just thought whoever made that clip was attentive to this theological peculiarity of Christinanity- the start being indentified as the death of Jesus rather than his birth.
PS the other clip about the empires in the middle east was even better!
