Good morning.

I just upgraded to Illustrator CS2 (Windows) last week.

I noticed that the scroll wheel on my mouse can be used in combination with the pencil (keep selected option on) to digitizing and pan along the VERTICALLY axis as you digitize. (Thus no panning tool required).

My first question:
Can this be done in CS1 (I have not migrated totally and still need to finish a job in CS1)? It seems not.

My second question:
Is there a setting of some sort of setting with a mouse (mine is a Microsoft 5 button laser mouse) that can provide the same movement along the HORIZONTAL axis.
(maybe I need FRAX new mouse :) )

Maybe all this is hardware specific?

Thanks

try ctrl + scroll wheel, that should do it. I have to say that I am very unimpressed by the lack of use for the scroll wheel in Illy - the dialogues are much more powerful in Photoshop CS2 for instance.

Personally I never use the scroll wheel for panning - it so much easier and more intuitive using space - I think, at least (and this is one reason why my NuLOOQ is not getting much use)
