It would be helpful to somehow organize all of the free GIS data links in a searchable database, so that if we are looking for something it is easier to find. I am not offering to do this, but someone else may want to if they have the time. If not a database, then even a pinned link on CartoTalk with links categorized by country/state/province would be very helpful.

Good point. In fact, one of the things we have tried to do with the Custom Cartographic Companies thread is keep it more organised so it's easier to retrieve information. This thread served as an example of what we didn't want it to become
