Does anyone know of any good sources for (free) GIS data of France?

You could start by doing a search for "Cheese eating surrender monkeys" + "GIS data" :P

IGN Institut Geographique National is a starting point.
There is a small I am looking for... pull down menu. (top right)
Most data is not free.

Did not find much with regards to free French data using French key words search in google. Must be something better out there?

Hello,
I am searching for a shapefile of administrative boundaries for French cantons. I really only need cantons in Brittany. Can you tell me where to find this data?

Also, what do the French call GIS data? How do you say, in French, administrative and political boundaries?

In the newly liberated "GeoFla" communes dataset, the canton information is in the "code_cant" field. It's the pseudo-cantons since the real electoral cantons are sometimes parts of communes in the big cities.
