I just posted a little flash slideshow of some snippets from maps I have done.

You will need flash player 7, I think.

As a cartotalk newcomer, I'd be interested in any feedback or thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I like the shaded relief that you have in a few of the samples. How did you do that?

Hi,
All of the maps look really good. My only suggestion would be to add functionality (maybe buttons?) so the presentation can be controled by the user. I only say this because the maps deserve more view time! Or, just add a few more key frames between maps.

I'm looking forward to seeing examples of your online mapping applications! Let us know when you get the samples up on your website.

Nice work. Erin

Great Stuff!

I´m too interested in your shading. It´s quite gentle.

How about changing the text colour from black to blue for Lake Dunmore?

Greetings,

Andreas

Thanks for all the positive feedback.

The images with the shading were an experiment. The data is from all over: USGS DEM's and Various ESRI format GIS datasets from Google searches. The trails were heavily edited based on my hiking in the area one lake I had to hand draw from an ortho image.

I used MapInfo Pro to do all the GIS data translations, reprojections, editing and etc with the Vertical Mapper plug to do the colors, derive the contours, and derive the shading. I used Photoshop to smooth (blur) the background bitmap (colors and shading). I finished the map using MAPublisher and Adobe Illustrator.

Erin-- actually the slideshow doesn't use keyframes, just a timer to pull a new jpeg into view.

I hope to post more in the future, especially the interactive kind.
