Did anyone download the Illustrator map pattern library from Harvard U. that was posted some time ago? The website has disappeared and I could really use those patterns for my map design class. Someone willing to share?

The one I can find right now dates from Dec 2005 by EcoGraphic. Referred to geologic map patterns. I've seen the site referred to other places such as CartoSoc but it seems to have disappeared.

I just snagged them off of Archive.org:

There are 7 files:
Surficial patterns
Sedimentary patterns
Igenous
Misc/metamorphic
Glacial/periglacial
Sedimentary lithology
Metamorphic, igneous and vein-matter lithology

In total the files are about 11mb. I can easily zip them up and send them to anyone, you can PM me with a request, or you can try and retrieve yourself from the link above.

Ahhh, thank you muchly. Should have thought about web.archive but it never crossed my paniced brain. Obviously. Will let you know if I have trouble downloading.

Honestly I was surprised the files were there. I assumed it was because of their small file size, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Still, I would expect archive.org has some maximum limit to backing up links/files.

I managed to pull down some of them. Others gave me bad links. About of time today. Will fuss with them more tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

I have all the AI files (but none of the other formats) if you can't retrieve any of those.

Along this topic - I recall seeing some proprietary Ai patterns for lancover: trees etc. Any hint as to who makes these?

I was looking for texture patterns I could use for a monochrome mapping exercise in my map design class. All of these links are useful and I appreciate your sharing your expertise! Have just converted from Freehand to Illustrator in my class and needed to find some new resources for patterns and symbols. So far am managing to stay about a half step ahead of the class.

The IAN Symbol Libraries now has over 150 maps and a library of mapping/navigation (mostly marine based at the moment) icons that should prove useful. If there is something you need that they don't have, request to have it created in their forum for free.
