Hi and welcome!

Is UW for U of Washington? ("U dub")

I went there in 97-98 as an exchange student, and that is where I got into the field of GIS...

Hello and welcome! Your degree is in GIS, not geography? Awesome, I'm thinking about getting my grad degree in GIS. What software did you focus on/learn on?

Welcome to the group sonhai.

Did you take any classes with N. Chrisman - the step-father if GIS?

I took a few classes with Chrisman. A great speaker and a very inspiring guy. His GIS text book "Exploring Geographic Information Systems" was a very good book in my view, not too heavy but still good. I was in the first class to use that, in 97 I think.

Yeah - Charting the Unknown by N. Chrisman is a good read too.
