I was curious if anyone has had any luck (or the curiousity) to see how well ArcGIS performs on an IntelMac booting Windows?

I was thinking that DirectX might pose a problem and have searched the internet with little luck others' experiences.

DirectX - that would only be for ArcGlobe (maybe ArcScene) then. But isn't full graphics supported if you boot into Windows using BootCamp (not if you are using parallells)

There were some posts on the Society for Conservation GIS mailing list about this... read more here in the August 2006 scgis-l archives, you will find the posts a bit down here, one thread on Parallells, and one on bootcamp

Have you looked on the ESRI User Forum? I did a search for "Mac" and got 88 hits. Maybe there is something useful for you there? :)

I have found a few interesting leads on this topic. If anyone is interested - here are a couple of pertinent links.

In Maine, due to the prevalence of ibooks provided to every 7th and 8th grade student, ESRI has ported a version of ARCView (I think that is the basic program) for macs. They call it My World GIS.

I still find faculty at our campus running ArcView on macs - in OS8 - keeping some ancient workstations alive just for that.
