Hi folks,
As a new member I thought I should introduce myself.

My name is Mark. I work for Safe Software in Vancouver BC. For those of you unfamiliar with us, we produce spatial data interoperability software called FME.

I know Hans van der Maarel is aware of us and does his best to highlight FME - well here's the payback as an FME'er joins this group. My background is in cartography (rather than software development) so I hope to be able to contribute in a number of areas.

So for work I'm involved in helping people translate and transform their spatial data between different formats. I tend to get involved in the training and educational aspects of using our software. On an academic side I'm interested in using cartography to publish and analyse political election results (slooooooowly working towards that MSc). On the personal side I've always wanted to produce some form of treasure map - I know that sounds corny but the idea of burying hidden information in a map is a fascinating idea (provided it's not just a side-effect of bad cartography!)

Hope to meet you more in the forums,

Mark Ireland, Snr Product Specialist
Safe Software Inc. Surrey, BC, CANADA

Greetings Mark.... Vancouver is on my top 3 vacation list! Haven't been yet... but I've been to Banff (in Alberta?), what a beautiful amazing place.

Hi Mark, nice to see you've joined up.

I know Hans van der Maarel is aware of us

A bit of an understatement, I've been using it since about 1999...
