I know it's still several months away but NACIS has penciled in a CartoTalk lunch on Thursday, October 19th on the schedule. If anyone knows Madison and can suggest a venue for probably 15-20 folks that would be great.

Wouldn't it be faster to walk down State Street?
They need a walking mode.

Maybe wanna try for a dinner again, like last time? That way we're not stuck to a short, fixed, timeframe? Just my 2 cents. I'm gonna be there anyway

From what I've gathered last year, there's enough opportunities to do that at NACIS...

Well, it seemed like there were pleny of evening events last year and I don't want to conflict with those, but there is still time to change the event to dinner if that is the consensus.
Last year's CartoTalk dinner DID lead to the subsequent party, which inagurated the NACIS hospitality suite.

That's true. But the point I'm making is that the time-windows for lunch are fairly limited. 90 minutes max, which is going to be cut short by the time needed to gather everybody and get to the restaurant. So... my vote would be for dinner...

My experience is that large group lunches are difficult with small time windows unless restaurants are informed ahead of time.

unfortunately I don't think a trip to the midwest is in my cards this year, so i'm going to have to pass on all the fun, which kinda sucks.
but i am leaving tonight on a 7 day field mapping trip to nualolo kai, which is always fun. google earth actually has some decent imagery of the area.

That's why I suggested Angelic. It isn't the most interesting place (try the Himalayan palces on State St) but it's close, and they seemed OK handling the 100+ morris dancers with whom I descended on them on Memorial Day weekend.

That might work then!

Nick, make a decision fast (lunch or dinner). The preliminary program goes to the printer Tuesday the 25th.
