I have (what appears to be) an old ArcView Design file or DGN. I looked it up on www.filext.com and that's what it said it was but didn't recommend a program to us to open it and I can't open it in ArcMap, ArcReader, or ArcView 3.3. Has anyone had experience with these files or know how to view them? Thanks.

DGN is generally Microstation Designfile. You can open it natively in Microstation, but I supposed most CAD packages and GIS convertors know the format. If you email it to me (hans@redgeographics.com), I can convert it to Shapefiles for you...

DGN can be opened in Manifold directly, or converted using the Import from CAD conversion tool in ArcGIS. ArcInfo license might be required though, but I'm not sure.

Perhaps you have problems because Esri soft doesn?t work if you are using Microstation V8 files. A good solution could be convert v8---->v7.

MAPublisher now imports DGN files as well.
