Summary of Experience

Over 30 years of varied experience as a GIS analyst, cartographer, draftsman and graphic artist in the planning, mining, geological, environmental, archaeological and civil engineering industries. Adept at collecting, interpreting and analyzing data for these industries. Thorough knowledge of ink on mylar, Leroy, computer graphics, design, and GIS. Have traveled and performed fieldwork for several projects.


GIS Analyst/Cartographer/Draftsman 1994 - present

Fulfilled multiple roles for small planning and architectural firm, providing support for the planning department. Have been wholly responsible for a multitude of GIS and drafting projects from concept to final product. Multitasker, am adept at research, analysis, database design, conversion (Paper, CAD and Raster to GIS), heads-up digitizing, georeferencing and fully knowledgeable of the DOD?s use of SDS in their ?GeoBase? GIS system. As a member of the IT/Network team, I recommend, tryout, and buy various software and hardware for company use.
Key contributions include:
? GIS project coordinator and analyst for 4 years during the Los Alamos National Laboratories CAD/GIS conversion project and Area Development planning projects.
? GIS project coordinator and analyst for more than 40 DOD General, Comprehensive and Master Plans for various installations. Some of these plans won Air Force, Federal and American Planning awards. These include: Bolling Air Force Base, Patrick Air Force Base, Peterson Air Force Base, Offutt Air Force Base and the SOTF at Fort Bragg.
? GIS Analyst on a Teller County Project looking at areas more than 5 acres, privately held, averaged 5 percent or less in grade, and were within a 2 mile radius of the major roads for light industrial planning.
? Developed a GIS database system to hold information for military Facilities Use Studies.
? Single handedly performed visual survey, updated, and drafted all of the utilities for Buckley Air Force Base -- made ready for GIS.

Worked for various industries as a temporary drafter or graphic artist. Worked mostly in environmental assessments, site planning, mining, and oil/gas industries. Worked mostly with ink on mylar or graphic design on paper, but also worked in CADD and entered data into databases. Some firms include: Enecotech, Exxon, Maupin Land, Bitter Creek Gold, Stansbury Gold, and Barrick Gold.

Coordinator/Geological Draftsman/ Environmental Tech 1975 - 1987
Rocky Mountain Energy Company (Union Pacific Mining) Broomfield, CO

Project Coordinator, geologic draftsman, and environmental technician for major transportation conglomerate. Worked mostly within the original US Land Grant area for the UP Railroad system of every odd section on either side of the railroad within 20 miles of the railroad. During this time, worked mostly within the research and development and operations of mining coal, uranium, gold, borrow, zeolite, and oil shale. The drafting and graphics at this time was mostly done by hand. Jobs included but was not exclusive of: geological structure maps, surface geology mapping, aerial remote sensing (finding mineral deposits), mining operations mapping, underground water mapping, environmental assessments, plotting mining claims and plats, research of mining claims, environmental research (field work researching areas flora and fauna), mapping from survey notes, and many other duties.

Apprentice Photogrammatrist/Draftsman/Assistant Surveyor 1974 ? 1975

Worked as all around draftsman and assistant surveyor while in training as a photogrammetrist. Assisted in the field and made original mapping for survey crews to use.
