Hi all,
I'm
working on a flash app which needs a vector map of Europe. I only
actually need the country outlines and nothing more from the map. I'm
then using my flash app to plot 350 locations on the map. At the moment
I've got the lat long values for those locations, and am trying to
bodge them onto the map doing the nasty lat long to projection myself,
but it's hard.
I was wondering two things:
1. What
sources are there for such a vector map? I've seen mapresources, but
was wondering what my other options were? What sort of prices am I
likely to have to pay?
2. If I want to be given those locations as ready calculated x,y values for my map, who might be able to supply that?
Thanks,
Tom

"Tom,
The
Gis Data Depot (see link in the resources section) has some basic data,
although that's in a GIS format. There's a number of clip-art sites out
there that do basic maps as well. maps.com
is one that comes to mind, they charge $12.95 for a PDF map (plain b/w
map of Europe), higher prices for other formats. Since the data is
available royalty-free, you'd be looking at prices in that range.
If
you have those lat/lon locations for me, I can supply you with a vector
file (Adobe Illustrator for example) with the country outlines and
those point locations. Email me privately (hans@redgeographics.com) if
you're interested.
