Hi everyone,

Does anyone know where I can find free climatic data for Europe? I need annual average temperature and precipitation.

And I need them to be in raster format.

Thank you.

Not sure what you mean by raster format, Bebe.  Do you want graphs showing precipitation and temperature for various stations or do you want it shown in some way on a map?

I want it shown on maps, Steve.

I want some kind of rasters obtained by means of interpolation that could be used on maps, like elevation (hypsometry).

Dear Bebe,

I can find lots of free climate data on the internet, especially worldwide, which I suppose can be filtered down to focus on Europe.

Do you have software that is able to contour the data?

Thanks, Steve. I do have software. I use ArcGis and/or Global Mapper.

I've got Global Mapper and Microdem, Bebe.  Here's a good source of worldwide climate data.

Ideally, a DEM can be made by selecting which column you'd like to use as the Z.  I wasn't able to do that with either of my programs, but maybe it can be done by creating an XYZ file containing the column you want to be the Z, or maybe you can do it more easily in ArcGIS.

Thank you Steve. I'll try it out and see if I can get some grid data.

Maybe a more detailed source for data can be found, Bebe, but here's a vector map showing max temperture for Europe in September.

It was created using the freeware Microdem.
