Hello Everybody,

I wanted to post my NACIS web mapping competition entry for everybody to see.
There were also a few more entries from Humboldt State.

that is a sad map (in a good way). have you tried distributing the static map to any magazines for publication? I think there are several websites that would be interested in running the animation as well.

Surprisingly this is the first map I have seen showing this information. Or maybe it's the first one done well enough to remember. Until now I had a completely different mental image of the distribution of U.S. casualties. Thanks for showing me otherwise.

A quick thought for the future:
I was thinking zoom and pan feature's could be useful in allowing the user to zoom to individual points on the map where they would then be given information on an individual. It's always great to get information directly from the map. I've found several tutorials for creating both zooming and panning functionality using basic Actionscripts/Flash at: www.flashkit.com

You could also integrate this data into a Google map. Check out Han's tutorials on doing this...Here's the Link ...

Nice work on the map. It was great meeting you at NACIS as well... Mr. Erin

so what does this say?

By the way -- aren't there non-americans in the US forces (people who want citizenship through serving in the army) -- would be interesting if there were any such casualities as well.
