Trying to design (with the help of some people who know more about it than me) a basemap using Mapbox Studio and Mapbox Studio Classic. It's a new way of designing maps for me ("programming maps") so apologies if this is a dumb question, but here goes...

It looks like if I've made a style in Mapbox Studio I can't export it to Mapbox Studio Classic to generate a custom tileset, I'll need to rebuild parts of it, is that correct?

I think it depends on the final destination of your Mapbox Studio style.  Mapbox Studio creates vector tiles, while Classic generates raster tiles. Are you looking to export a raster tileset that you can use outside of the Mapbox stack?

If you are using Mapbox to serve the tiles, you shouldn't need to worry about it... It looks like there is support for rendering the Studio styles as raster tilesets. You can display Vector tiles with plain Leaflet, as well.

So all that to say, it may depend on how you are planning to host/serve/render the tiles in your final application... native mobile app, mapbox.js, mapboxGL, leaflet, and so on...

It would be for a raster tileset that's to be used outside of Mapbox, yes.

Been doing a little bit of experimenting with the migration process and it doesn't look too bad. It's a fairly basic style so that helps a lot.
