Hi everyone,

My hobby project this winter has been to map northern New York State’s Adirondack Park, the remote and beautiful place where I grew up. I got lucky on this project; the park has an interesting geographic shape that was ideal for cartographic compositions.

I created two maps of the park. One focuses on the physical environment and the other is a general reference map showing protected state lands. I had toyed with making a third map depicting land cover, but there would have been little to show other than a uniform blanket of green because of thick forest everywhere. Creating the generalized, tapered drainages was by far the most time-consuming task on this project.

Everything about these complimentary maps is amazing -- especially the terms of use!
